The links to the right contains important information including the contract we sign with all buyers and several articles to prepare for bringing your pup home. Some we wrote, some we got from other sites and have noted references where appropriate. Please help yourself to this info even if you don’t buy one of our pups! Finding a Great Breeder
If you don’t know the right questions to ask, you could find yourself in a scary situation with a pup with medical concerns and/or an unpredictable temperament. PLEASE research questions to help you determine if your breeder is going above and beyond to do all they can to produce a healthy dog with an amazing personality!
Here are some questions to ask a potential breeder:
1.Do both parents have health clearances for eyes, heart, hips and elbow? Can I see the certificates?
2.Can I meet the parents? At least the mother on site? Can I see where the pups are delivered and raised? If we are local, can we visit the pups their first 8 weeks?
3.How many litters has the mother had? How old is she? How many times do you breed a dog?
4.What food do you feed the mother? What food do you feed the pups? (Should be high quality, grain free. Pup food should be grain free and high in protein, Omegas, fat and calcium.)
5.What Early Neurological Stimulation, socialization and desensitization exercises and experiences throughout their first 8 weeks do you do with the pups to ensure they are confident, friendly, mellow, emotionally balanced, less anxious and less fearful?
6.Where do you raise the pups? What kind of human contact do they get? How often / how much?
7. What is your selection process? Do you assign a puppy to me or do I get to pick one?
8.What training/tips/advice do you give us for continuing your socialization training when we take our pup home? Are you available to us during our first few weeks home with our pup if we have questions about leash, potty or crate training?
9.When do you give us our AKC registration papers? Are they limited or unlimited registrations?
10.Do you get the pups’ first health checks from your own vet and their first shots? Do you have a health guarantee?
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE be willing to wait for a pup from a good breeder. If you are in a rush, you might make compromises in the quality of your pup and end up with heartache down the line. If we don’t have a pup available for you, you can either wait on our waiting list for our next litter or we can give you names of breeders with standards we trust!
